Although beach hotels around the world tend to be a little expensive, that doesn’t mean you have to avoid the beach if you’re on a budget, though. There are plenty of very affordable beachfront hotels available to you, just about everywhere in the world.
1. Azul de Mar, Key Largo, United States
Florida is well known for its beaches, but most hotels in the area are too expensive to consider if you’re on a budget. You can enjoy retro-glam rooms at Azul de Mar for less than $150 a night. The man-made shale beach is different from many other hotels in the area and offers plenty of privacy. The rooms are pretty nice, with a nautical feel to them and unique touches to make them special.
2. El Encanto de Cabo Pulmo, Baja California Sur, Mexico
Just an hour away from Cabo San Lucas, El Encanto is far enough from the hustle and bustle of the top resorts to make it unique. The hotel is tucked away by a tiny village of about 100 people, and offers a unique look at Mexico. Enjoy private suites with four poster beds just a few feet from the beach. The hotel uses solar power and is decorated with rustic furniture and local art.
3. Numero Uno Guest House, Ocean Park, Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico may not come up in many beach lists, but it has plenty to offer. The hotel is right on the beach and has just 11 rooms. Staying somewhere so small gives your vacation an intimate feel. You can eat at Pamela’s, enjoy a cocktail on the upper deck or head into San Juan to hit the clubs.
4. Frenchman’s Cove Resort, Port Antonio, Jamaica
Jamaica has some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, with lukewarm water that is easy to dive into. Frenchman’s Cove Resort is set on 45 acres, offering 16 cottages and just 12 rooms. Everyone feels special here. The lush gardens are split by a river which lazily runs down to the ocean, not far from the rooms.

Vancouver Island may not feature tropical white sand beaches, but it is stunningly beautiful as is. The Pacific Shores Resort is right on the water with small beaches available to guests. You can also hike through the 15 acres of natural forest or take wine tour nearby. Let the kids play on the playground, head to the pool, or get a massage at the hotel spa. Some of the more expensive rooms include Jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces.

Greece inspires visions of blue water and white sand and the Thalassa Seaside Resort gives you a close up look at the perfect seascape. With two pools and a beach bar, you never need to be far from the water. The resort also offers a spa and an on-site Mediterranean restaurant. You’ll have to get on a ferry or fly to this remote location. In the center of the island is a crater full of bright blue water. It is well worth taking some time to check out the sights around the island.
8. Bamboo Bungalows, Koh Phayam, Thailand
The island of Phayam is an amazing destination in Thailand. It take two hours to get there by boat from Ranong on the Andaman Sea, but it is worth the trip. There are several different types of bungalows to choose from, including A-frame huts and villas. You can also use the local kayaks and snorkeling equipment for a small fee and there is an on-site restaurant. If you plan to stick around for a while, there is a discount on houses by the month.
9. Chenay Bay Beach Resort, Christiansted, St. Croix
Enjoy a mile long crescent beach along the edge of a former sugar plantation at the Chenay Bay Beach Resort. You will be staying in cute little cottages strung out along the edge of the sand. The cottages offer beds, sitting areas and kitchenettes, but there is also an on-site restaurant if you prefer. Mahi’s Seaside Seafood Bar & Grill is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
10. Tranquility Bay Resort, Ambergris Caye, Belize
With just 11 cabanas, Tranquility Bay Resort gives you plenty of tranquil time to relax by yourself. Despite the quiet nature of the resort, it is just a few minutes from San Pedro. In the city, you can enjoy clubs and bars and plenty of tourist sites. For the more adventurous, try booking a trip to the Great Blue Hole or dive on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. You can also snorkel right in front of the resort’s amazing white sand beach. The area is only accessible by boat, but it is well worth the trip.
Staying on the beach for your vacation doesn’t mean you have to pay a small fortune. Enjoy the sun and sand for less when you book the right hotel.
